The Importance of Home
About the Studio
Doma A+D is a boutique design practice, offering a full range of architectural services throughout Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
Each project begins with listening. We take time to understand how you live, what you value, and what inspires you, then translate that into architecture that enhances daily life. Working closely with builders, engineers, and interior designers, we guide you through the process with clarity and care, from concept to completion.
We specialize in residential renovations and additions of all scales, with a broad range of experience in both historic and contemporary design. We enjoy guiding clients through material and fixture selections, as well as designing custom cabinetry tailored to each project. Our work blends seamlessly with existing architecture, enhancing each home to reveal its full potential.
Most of our work comes through referrals, a reflection of the trust we build with every client and partner. Our greatest reward is seeing families settle into homes designed for inspired, effortless living.
Principal, Katharine Scott
A native Washingtonian, Katie’s love for architecture began early, inspired by the city’s historic buildings, art, and gardens she explored as a child. She attended Georgetown Visitation and the Maret School before earning her Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University.
Katie honed her skills at several of Washington, D.C.’s leading firms, including Hamilton Snowber Architects, Donald Lococo Architects, and Cole Prevost, where she specialized in historic work and single-family residences. She also expanded her experience internationally with commercial projects while at Lehman Smith + McLeish.
Katie lives in the AU Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C. with her husband and two children.
